火星のプリンセスのリン・ソリスは、火星から脱出した。
クリュセ王宮は大騒ぎになった。プリンセスはクリュセ王国の要だったからだ。彼女がいないと、マルスは国家間のバランスを失い、戦乱と崩壊の危機に瀕する。
次期クイーンとなるプリンセスの逃亡は、国の存亡を左右する。
火星人は母系社会だ。クイーンが国民の頂点に立ち、国を統べ、卵を産み、新しい命をもたらす。卵を産めるのはクイーンだけなのだ。クイーンのいない王国は滅びるしかなくなる。老齢の現在のクイーンでは、先は長くない。
臣下の者たちは、プリンセスの捜索を開始した。
クイーン候補のプリンセスは５人いた。その中から勝ち抜き、生き残ったのがリンだった。強さはクイーンに欠かせない資質のひとつだ。次期クイーンとなったリンには、子孫を残すための能力、つまり卵を産む能力が与えられた。
普通の火星人は卵を産めない。国民はクイーンの子供たちなのだ。彼らはクイーンのために働くか、兵士として戦う。
プリンセスがひとりで逃亡できるわけがない。彼女は直属の配下の者を５０人あまり引き連れて、宇宙船でマルスから飛び立った。
行き先の予想はできた。未開の惑星、地球だ。
金星は遠すぎるし、雷星では寒すぎる。
プリンセスはなぜマルスから脱出したのか？
様々な噂や憶測が飛び交った。有力なのは、プリンセスはマルスの未来に見切りをつけ、テラで新たな王国を作るつもりだという説。
マルスは寒冷化と乾燥化の途上にあり、海は年々小さくなっていた。科学者たちは、マルスの大きさが小さいゆえの必然だと説いた。やがては、テラがもっとも季候のよい惑星になるだろう。
火星人の遠い祖先は、ウェヌスから移住してきた。大昔のウェヌスは適度に温暖で、住みよい環境だった。太陽の熱量が現在の70％ほどしかなかったからだ。しかし、太陽は徐々に明るさを増し、ウェヌスは熱い惑星へと変わっていった。
環境の変化で、ウェヌスから脱出するクイーンが続出した。彼らが目指したのはマルスおよびフェートンだった。テラを目的地としなかったのは、その頃のテラは全球凍結で氷に覆われていたからだ。
最近の観測で、テラの全球凍結は終わり、気候が温暖になっていることが確認されていた。移住が可能になっていたのだ。
プリンセス・リンは、国民の人気が高かった。人気もクイーンに必要な資質だ。慕われるクイーンには、多くの国民が付き従う。プリンセスがテラを目指したとの噂が広がると、あとを追おうとするものが出てきた。
しかし、テラまで行ける宇宙船は限られている。ボロ船では何年もかかってしまう。全財産をつぎ込んで、テラ行きの大型宇宙船のチケットを買う者もいた。
その多くは兵士階級の男たちだ。彼らがそこまで真剣になるのは、プリンセスがテラで新たなクイーンとして王国を築くなら、卵を産むための種夫がたくさん必要になる。そのひとりになれれば、王族の仲間入りだ。
かくして、プリンセス・リンの引き起こした騒動は、新たな伝説の幕開けとなった。

Why did the Princess escape from Mars?

Mars was in the process of becoming colder and drier, and the oceans were getting smaller every year. Scientists theorized that this was inevitable due to the small size of Mars. Eventually, Terra would be the most climatic planet.
The distant ancestors of Martians migrated from Wenus. A long time ago, Wenus was a moderately warm and comfortable place to live. This was because the sun’s heat level was only about 70% of what it is today. However, the sun gradually became brighter and brighter, turning Wenus into a hot planet.
The change in environment caused many queens to escape from Wenus. Their destination was Mars and Phaeton. They did not choose Terra as their destination because at that time, the entire planet was frozen and covered with ice.
