カイトが海岸沿いの道を竜馬に乗って歩いていると、強い結界が張られた場所に遭遇した。
「強い魔力だ。魔族がいるのかもしれない」彼はいった。
海を渡って魔族が来ている可能性もあった。
彼自身も強い魔力を持っている。彼は結界を剣で切り裂き、結界の中心に向かって進んだ。
カイトは砂浜に場違いなものを見つけた。
「ベッドだと？ なんでこんなところに？」
彼は警戒しながら近づいた。すると、ベッドの上に裸の女が寝ていた。
「おい、おまえ、ここで何をしている？」彼は聞いた。
女はビックリした様子で起き上がると、声の主をしげしげと見つめた。
「え？ ええ？ ああ、よかった！ 誰もいないのだと思ってた」彼女はいった。
「海水浴でもしてるのか？ 裸とは大胆だな」
「ええ？ やだっ！」
彼女は両手で胸を隠した。
「そこだけ隠しても無駄だろ。おまえは何者だ？ 魔族の者か？」
「魔族？ なんのことかわからないんだけど？」
彼は彼女の言葉が日本語だと気がついた。
「日本人か？ おまえも召喚されたのか？」
「日本人だけど、えっと……わたし、なにも知らなくて、目覚めたらここにいたの」
「とりあえず、なにか着ろ」
「着るものもがなくて……」
彼女は毛布を体に巻いた。
カイトは彼女の経緯を聞いた。名前はサラで、目覚めたらベッドごとここにいた。彼女はひとりぼっちで寂しかったようで、しゃべりだしたら止まらなくなった。
彼は彼女の話に、違和感を感じた。日本から来たようだが、彼の知っている日本とは違う気がした。彼はその違和感がなんであるか、直感が働いた。
「サラ、君のいた時代はいつだ？」
「時代って？」
「君のいた日本は、何年の日本なんだ？」
「2021年だけど」
「なるほど、そういうことか。オレがいた日本は2151年だ」
「ええーー！！」
彼女はカイトから見て、過去から来たのだ。
この世界について、カイトはサラに概略を教えた。
「わたしは召喚されたってこと？ ありえないと思ってた」彼女はいった。
「おそらく、魔族がやったんだろう。だが、さっきもいったように、召喚魔法は成功率が低い。だから、君はこんなところに出現したんだ。それは幸運でもあった。オレと出会えたからね」

彼女は頭を抱えた。
「カタスタシと唱えてみて」彼はいった。
彼女が唱えると、ステータスが出てきた。
「君は属性は魔女だ。それにレベルはやっぱりＭＡＸだね。それで納得したよ。この結界が強力な理由だ」
「わたしが結界を張ったの？」
「たぶん、無意識にね。これだけ強力だと、この世界の住人は近寄れない」
「事情は少しわかったけど、わたしはどうすればいいの？」
「オレの仲間になれ。強いウイッチは戦力になる」
「魔法なんて使い方がわからない」
「オレを召喚した魔法使いのエルフがいる。彼女に習うといい」
カイトは歩き出した。
「ついてこい」
「ねぇ、なにか着るもの持ってない？」彼女は聞いた。
「女物はないよ。そのシーツに穴を開けて、ポンチョにしろよ。ここの住人は、腰巻きをまく程度で、裸同然だから気にしなくていい」
「カイトは歳はいくつなの？」彼女は聞いた。
「この世界に来て５年だから、21歳になった」
「若いのね。わたしは２５歳だから、お姉さんね」
「それをいうなら、おばあさんだろ？ オレから見れば前世紀の人だ」
「失礼な言い方ね。でも可愛いから許してあげる」
「おばあさんにしてはいい体をしてるよ」
彼はニヤニヤと笑った。
彼女は怒った顔をしたが、すぐに顔をほころばせた。
「あなたに会えて良かった。途方に暮れていたから」彼女はいった。
「君とオレは、元の世界で孤独だったのは共通している。それがこの世界に呼ばれた一因なのかもしれない」
竜馬にサラを乗せ、彼らは最寄りの村に向かった。
カイトは同胞に会えて内心うれしかった。この世界では人間はマイノリティだから、ときに寂しさを感じていた。
「ねえ、この世界のこと、もっと教えてくれる？」彼女はいった。
「ああ。この国はアリスィア王国といって……」
カイトは話し始めた。

He realized that her words were in Japanese.

Kaito asked her how she came to be. Her name was Sara, and when she woke up, she was here in this bed. She was lonely and alone, and she couldn’t stop talking.
